GPA: Gabriel Attal wants to “break a taboo”

Gabriel Attal is approaching the political season with the promise of "turning the tables." The former Prime Minister (January-September 2024) is determined to "break institutional, constitutional, and administrative taboos," one of his close associates told Agence France-Presse on Thursday, August 21. He also wants to break another taboo, a societal one: his office announced the same day to several media outlets, including Paris Match and Le Figaro , the desire of the Secretary General of Renaissance to initiate a discussion on the legalization of surrogacy (GPA) through a thematic convention.
This convention takes the form of a group of elected officials and experts coordinated by Camille Galliard-Minier, the Renaissance MP for Isère, the party explains. The group, which has already begun its work, is expected to conduct hearings and formulate recommendations. The convention's conclusions are then expected to be presented at a press conference in October or November, and then submitted to a vote by members. These proposals could then be incorporated into the party's platform for the 2027 presidential election.
